Notes from El barrio
Notes from El Barrio was written in response to Ernesto's upbringing in Spanish Harlem during the 1980s. Back then, it was a broken, vacant-lot, burnt-out slum. He grew up amongst ghetto teen boys tapped by the brutal code of "capital M" Machismo. Boys' fathers had passed down the violence that they had grown up with. "Throw the first punch, always throw the first punch" was a common refrain ingrained into boys by older men. This violence gave rise to bullies. They were everywhere, in the schools, in the blocks, sometimes in the homes, as these are the side effects of a neglected and poverty-ridden New York City "hood".
The characters Julio and Hector, bullied by the bigger, stronger teen Mario, were inspired by a real event in Ernesto Quiñonez's life, one he remains not proud of. Ernesto supposes it's a long-overdue apology to his childhood bully as well.
It’s a philosophy and a way of life.
It began as an interest in cars and repair and grew into a philosophy that could be applied to every aspect of life.
Add value to the lives of others. Find the useful and good in the things around you. Work hard so you can enjoy play. Quality is a degree of excellence, not a measure of newness.

Revisiting Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart is more than bringing a classic story to a new audience; it’s discovering a new way to explore this psychological thriller. The narrative is enhanced through an unpredictable use of sound and light. The characters blend modern sensibility with anachronistic charm as seen through an unsettling array of time and place while a shifting setting disorients the audience. What is seen and what is not leads the audience to question where reality intersects insanity.

BassMint Pros is a Hip-Hop Collective. BassMint Pros, aka BMP, represents the core or true essence of Hip-Hop. Immersing a DIY philosophy to the roots of a diverse culture. Delving into areas considered passe and cliche to the masses, these elements represent all that is Hip-Hop; Break Dancing, Beat-Boxing, Cutting and Scratching, etc. BMP incorporates its diverse musical influences seemlessly into unique soundscapes of sonic boldness. Drawing from Rock, Punk, Hip-hop, Metal, Soul, and yes, even Country for inspiration. They began making the very creative music back in the early snowy winter of 1997.
